Review:
For this assignment, I felt that I followed the brief very closely and completed each task to the letter. I completed all work within the deadline to a good standard which I am happy with.
I began by looking online at various of different robots used in various media such as films, television, games etc... and finally came up with the sort of design I wanted to use after collecting a few pictures that I would use as my main source of inspiration. With this image in mind I began sketching my conceptual ideas of my robot.
Using the template paper supplied, I started drawing my robot to scale, making changes along the way until I was happy with my final drawing. Once the final drawing was complete, I then used the drawing to help make the basic model of my robot. With the basic shape of the robot down, I started adding bits of detail like slits on the jet pack and metal shutters on the eyes etc...After the robot had been completely finished being made, it was time to texture it. I took the robot into Layout in order to make the textures more realistic (giving them metallic sheens etc..). As this was intended as a military robot, I decided to give it a camouflage design.
After I had textured every part of the robot I rendered it several times from various angles and took screenshots in order to present it.
Overall, I am very happy with the end result but had I had the chance to do this again, I would have made many more designs of the robot before I moved on to modeling it. As far as the actual modeling of the robot went, I felt it could not have gone any better as I feel very confident with the software and this whole aspect of the project.
